I demand a recount! As expected Michael Carter-Williams of the Philadelphia 76ers won the title of 2014 NBA “Rookie of The Year”.  Rookie, Victor Oladipo, finished in second place, with Trey Burke ending up in third. That’s great and all, but I know Brooklyn Nets forward, Mason Plumlee should have been right behind him. Ok, maybe I’m being a bit bias, but any rookie who can successfully block veteran Lebron James deserves some type of reward, right?

Mason Plumlee finished fourth. He pulled in two first place votes, five second place and thirty-three third place votes. The two amazing people that picked Mason to be in first place were, Sean Deveney of Sporting News and Sherrod Blakely of Comcast SportNet.

It’s a given Mason started off the  2013-14 season pretty slow. Any rookie would. Moving from college ball to playing pro needs a period of adjusting. Mason was able to start in 22 games, due to a injury to Kevin Garnett. He is averaging 7.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 18.2 minutes per game, has been a major asset for the Brooklyn Nets. He was the only player in the top four rookies to play on a winning team and the only one of the four to be taken outside the lottery, at No. 22. Mason also led all rookies in shooting percentage and dunks, finishing 10th overall. Not bad, Not bad!

Considering the Nets GM Billy King expected Mason to spend most this season in the D-League, Mason had a pretty amazing year.

This is only the beginning for Mason Plumlee. Will this season being his rookie year, he can only go one way and that’s up!

We will be watching him.
