“I danced in the womb and each time my mom said the word charisma – I performed,” says Karisma Jay, the founder of AbunDance Academy of the Arts. AbunDance is a Brooklyn-based non-profit arts organization dedicated to providing affordable dance, theater, and musical instruction to children and adults.
Jay has always been entrepreneurial while believing everyone who sings and who dances should have the opportunity.
“The arts instill disciple, the arts heal, and I always wanted to teach,” asserts Jay.
In March 2013, Karisma Jay opened the doors to AbunDance. With 17 years of experience, she attributes mentor Cheryl E. Smith, former Artistic Director of Full of Energy School of Dance (now closed) for helping her take that giant leap of faith.
Starting with 38 students, 4 years later, AbunDance student population has almost tripled. The Faculty roster includes highly skilled teaching artists who passionately develop the budding artistry of each student. AbunDance’s diverse group of students meet regularly to learn the scientific technique of dance while experiencing the creative expression of Hip-Hop, African, Ballet, Tap, and more.
“AbunDance can transform people,” Jay says proudly.
Every year, thousand of thousands men turn out to be the medications that you are on that make it hard to buy cialis online more get an erection.
Jay has learned major transformation requires strength and patience. Currently AbunDance is searching for a larger space in a new home. Having officially moved from their 430 Rogers Avenue location, their search for a new permanent address has not been easy. Prospect Heights is one of the several neighborhoods in gentrified Brooklyn to see rent and housing prices skyrocket.
To raise the funds for their new home and to keep their commitment to the community, AbunDance Academy took creative action. They invite you to experience “SISTER ACT, ABUNDANTLY!” on Sunday, June 25, 2017, 6:00 PM at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn.
Inspired by one of the most financially successful movies of the 1990s “SISTER ACT,” staring Whoopi Goldberg, “SISTER ACT, ABUNDANTLY” tells the story of a compassionate and successful Broadway star who returns to her hometown of Brooklyn to inject the arts into every corner of the borough.
This is a must attend affair with over 110 performers ranging in age from tiny tots to senior citizens and a cast of Broadway alumni. “Sister Act, AbunDantly!” shows how just one person can unite a whole community through the arts. Tickets are only $50 in advance, and $65 at the door. To purchase online go head over to Kingstheatre.com.
