On Day 12 of Black History Month and in honor of New York Fashion Week, we recognize Bethann Hardison.

Bethann Hardison grew up in Brooklyn – in Bedford Stuyvesant. She attended George W. Wingate High School in Prospect Lefferts Gardens and continued her education at NYU and FIT. Initially, Hardison worked in the garment district as a sales person.

By 1967, Willi Smith, a young and successful African-American designer, began using her as a fitting model. In the 1970s, she bravely and boldly broke barriers by walking the runway. You see, back then, there were few people of color represented at any level in the industry. And Hardison, did not look like the “typical fashion model.”

Her life’s mission has been advocating for diversity in the world of fashion. The Huffington Post named Bethann Hardison, one of twenty influential Blacks in the fashion industry (2012).With economies of scale, this cost will become irrelevant. levitra samples
