The representation of Brooklyn at the BET Hip-hop awards was undeniably the best thing to see on television. With performances from the legendary Mc Lyte, to the talented Papoose, newcomer Bobby Shmurda, and an appearance by the award winning DJ Scratch, the awards ceremony was a way to let everyone know that Brooklyn is still on the map.

The Brooklyn Hip-Hop influence from rappers like The Notorious B.I.G, Jay Z, Lil Kim and Foxy Brown were able to pave the way for the newer Brooklyn artists to make it in the industry. Although, this year Hip-Hop awards show was held in Atlanta, Georgia the city of turn-up, New York rightfully so, took the cake.

The highlight of the night, was the well anticipated performance from Bobby Shmurda. Bobby Shmurda is a young man from East Flatbush, the 90s to be exact, has literally taken the world by storm with his smash summer hit “Hot Boy” (the cleaner title we will use here). With his performance being so full of energy and igniting the crowd to take part, gives every reason for fellow Brooklynites to be proud to be from such a borough.

Brooklyn is a forced to be reckoned with and in the words of Jay Z, “Brooklyn, We Go Hard”!
