New York City is set to host the NBA’s hottest 3-day event, NBA ALL-STAR 2015!
All-Star voting has already started and the NBA has rolled out an all-digital platform for ballots to be casted. You can go on NBA.com and select your favorite player. On Twitter, your tweet, retweet or reply must include the player’s first and last name or Twitter handle, along with hashtag #NBABallot. For Facebook, posts must include the players first and last name along with the hashtag #NBABallot. You can post votes for 10 different players per day. For Instagram, use hashtag #NBABallot, the players full name, and an original photo. This is the 2nd option where fans can post votes for 10 different players per day. For SMS, text the players last name to 69622 (MYNBA). Finally, for the NBA Game Time app, follow the same steps for the website. Remember voting ends on Jan 19th and the results will come in live on TNT on Thursday, January 22nd at 7p.m. ET.
Since Brooklyn will host the bulk of the event, let’s take a look at which players on the Brooklyn Nets would be a wise choice to vote into the ALL-STAR game.
Kevin Garnett
Whether you call him Garnett, KG, or the Big Ticket; you can’t have a globally recognized nickname in the NBA without being great. Kevin Garnett has made 15 ALL-STAR appearances. Only 2 players in Kobe Bryant and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have had more ALL-STAR appearances. KG is a 1st ballot hall of famer still playing dominant basketball at the power-forward position. He’s a warrior on defense and brings intangibles to the game that no one else has seemed to grasp since he’d entered the league. He knows how to get his opponents frustrated and cause them to have off games. His rebounding and shot selections are nothing to dismiss. If you leave KG open in his comfort zone he will take and make the shot. He recently reminded us all that he still possesses a powerful dunk that can lift tens of thousands of fans onto their feet. Garnett has been played both the hero and the villain in the story of the NBA depending on the lens you look through. All of this makes Garnett a perfect vote for the NBA ALL-STAR game.
Brook Lopez

Standing at 7 feet tall and weighing 265 pounds is Brooklyn Nets Center, Brook Lopez. In 2013, Lopez made his first NBA ALL-STAR appearance following controversy about the other NBA owners’ feelings towards the Brooklyn Nets. He is called the best offensive center in the league for a reason. He is in field goal range anywhere from inside the paint to the 3 point line. There is not natural center that can put up points in the manner Brook Lopez can. His defense and rebounding has improved since Nets Head Coach Lionel Hollins has taken over. If you need Brook Lopez to take over a quarter, a half, or even the entire game he can, he will, and has done so. There are very far and few centers in the NBA that can do what Brook Lopez can do. That alone should be the reason to vote Brook Lopez into the NBA-ALL STAR game.
Joe Johnson
Joe Johnson or maybe it’s Joe Cool, Iso Joe, Joe Jesus or Joe Clutch. It really doesn’t matter what people call him, Joe Johnson can flat out get the job done. Joe Johnson was an ALL-STAR last year and can be one again this year. Once Joe Johnson posts an opponent up in the paint, the field goal is almost an automatic. He has shooting range at and beyond the 3 point line, he can handle the ball, create his own shot, defend, draw in multiple defenders, share the ball, and be the team’s leading scorer. He’s the total package. If you want an ALL-STAR, you want Joe Johnson.
Mason Plumlee
Not even 2 years into his NBA career and there are people who say that he deserves to be an ALL-STAR. I’m one of them. Mason Plumlee solidified his place in the NBA this past season by becoming a FIBA World Champion. He is now starting for the Brooklyn Nets, becoming an essential player and a walking double-double. The ALL-STAR game will have its share of highlights and Plumlee has given Brooklyn fans their money’s worth of highlights. You simply can’t bet against this young, athletic, and determined individual. He will become a consistent and necessary piece on any team and will become an NBA ALL-STAR. Now is the perfect time for him to start.
