The Broken Angel House in Clinton-Hill was one of Brooklyn’s most unique landmarks. The iconic house was even used as the back drop of Dave Chapelle’s 2005 documentary, Block Party.
The unique house was purchased in 1979 for a mere $2000 by artist, Arthur Wood, and then transformed into eccentric yet artistic livable sculpture. Broken Angel House was outfitted with stained glass windows made from bottles and glass and brick wings.
Back in January, the site was purchased by Barrett Design and Development for a whopping $4.1 million and is set to be repurposed into a condo development. This four story building at 4 Downing Street will be transformed into an eight condo unit. The development will feature garden units and rooftop terraces.
