Visual artist and singer-songwriter Solange Knowles presents an extended version of her interdisciplinary performance-art film When I Get Home, an exploration of personal origin as well as a spiritual expedition. The film confronts how much of ourselves we take or leave behind in our evolution, and how much is determined by fear. Returning to her home state of Texas, Knowles makes an expedition to a futurist rodeo. The film’s visual meditation uplifts the narrative of Black cowboys and honors the artist’s Houston lineage.
