Remember that astounding book, “Push” that was turned into and Academy Award winning film, “Precious”, well the writer is headed to Brooklyn.
Tomorrow, Sapphire, author of Push will headline this year’s Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival. The event promotes the work of 35 youth from different neighborhoods in Brooklyn, ages 6-18. For six weeks, the NY Writers Coalition has conducted creative writing workshops for these youth and now they have the opportunity to present their final works to the public.

Along with Sapphire, a number of other literary professional will attend including, “Def Poetry Jam” co-creator and brother of Russell Simmons, Danny Simmons, poet Willie Perdomo, spoken word artist Angel Nafis and more.
The festival is free to the public and takes place in Fort Greene Park. It begins promptly at 2pm and Greenlight Bookstore on 686 Fulton Street will host an after-party at 4:30pm.
