For those looking to rent in Brooklyn without breaking the bank, a number of affordable housing lotteries have opened in both Bedford-Stuyvesant and South Slope.
A new development located at 869 Park Ave., in the heart of Bed-Stuy, is now accepting applications for nine affordable housing units. Qualifying locals who earn 60 percent of the area’s median income — about $33,772 and $45,840 annually — could score a one bedroom apartment for $985/mo.
Amenities in the five-story building include an elevator, and for additional fees, fitness center and laundry room. The building is directly across the street from Woodhull Hospital and is a little over a block away form the J, M and Z trains as well as a number of Brooklyn buses. The building is smoke-free.
Preference for half the units will go to municipal employees and current residents of Community Board 3.
Applications are being accepted through January 26. Click here for more details and to apply.

Each unit comes equipped with a washer/dryer and the building offers a roof-top deck and gym/recreation room. The building is located just a few blocks from the D, N, and R Prospect Av subway station.
Preference for half the units will go to municipal employees and current residents of Community Board 7.
