After actress/singer, Zendaya dropped out of the movie citing difficulties with Aaliyah’s family approval of the production, we were all left wondering if this movie would ever happen. Now that the Brooklyn born singer will be played by Nickelodeon star, Alexandra Shipp, we come to the conclusion that despite Aaliyah’s family not agreeing to the movie, it will move forward.

The latest castings certainly seal the deal. The movie has since casted Missy Elliot, Timbaland  and Damon Dash roles; the three major people in the last parts of her professional life. Missy Elliot and Timberland will be played by Chattrisse Dolabaille and Izaak Smith.
