Brooklyn native and “Charles in Charge” actor, Scott Baio took to social media to defend his innocence after being accused of sexual misconduct from former co-star, Nicole Eggert.

Eggert has accused Baio of manipulating and coercing her into having sex with him when she was only seventeen. According to an interview with Megyn Kelly on “Megan Kelly Today”, Eggert stated that Baio began to molest her at the age of fourteen while the two were working on the 1980s sitcom.

“We were at his house in his car in his garage, and he reached over and penetrated me with his finger,” Eggert said.

Baio claims this was not the first time she has “falsely” accused him of the taking advantage of her. In 2012 and 2013 while Eggert was promoting a reality show, Baio claims she began to accuse him publicly. Baio swiftly dismissed the accusations.

“I heard these rumors; however, I kept my mouth shut! Usually, when false claims come up about me, they would just go away but for some reason, she will not let this one go,” Baio said in a Facebook Live video.

As Baio’s wife, Renee filmed the video he pleaded for his innocence. “My reputation is being damaged, my family is being put through this and I’m done,” he said. “I’m being accused of inappropriately touching her when she was a minor and having sex with her when she was seventeen and I’ve had it!”

For sixteen minutes he showed documents from his legal team and testimonial evidence that subsequently had a TV interview with Eggert pulled from the Dr. Oz show that was supposed to air earlier this month.

In November 2017, both Eggert and co-star Alex Polinsky (also from “Charles in Charge”) came after Baio, yet Polinsky did not accuse the star of molestation but claims to have witnessed inappropriate behavior from Baio during filming. Baio questioned both former co-stars as to why they would go to social media and not the police with this serious complaint.

Baio ended his live video by explaining “the real problem with this is that people with legitimate claims are not taking seriously.”

“He was our boss and he would tell me, you can’t tell anyone, we will be sued and you’ll ruin everyone’s life,” Eggert said.

Baio does acknowledge having sex one time with Eggert after the show stopped airing when she was 18-years-old and assures it was consensual.

“To be clear, these accusations by Ms. Eggert are totally and completely false: no sexual contact of any kind ever occurred between Ms. Eggert and Mr. Baio other than on one occasion, which was planned and initiated by Ms. Eggert, when Ms. Eggert was well over the age of 18,” read a letter from Baio’s attorneys.
