The graduating class of Red Hook’s Summit Academy Charter School got the biggest surprise of their lives when they visited The Ellen Show this week.

Ellen DeGeneres welcomed Natasha and Cheryl, two educators at the Brooklyn school to discuss how they got 93 percent of their first senior class to graduate and attend college, earlier this month. Both women launched the charter school after meeting with children who wanted to excel in the neighborhood but weren’t given the proper tools to do so. They then created a “safe space” for every child who attended their school and wanted to go to college after, could do so.

On that particular visit, Walmart presented both ladies with a check for $25,000 to go towards what they needed for the school to be a continued success. Ellen invited the ladies back and told them to bring some students with them.

This week the Natasha and Cheryl returned to the show with their entire 2017 graduating class. What comes next will surely bring a tear to your eye. Ellen and Walmart help to make dreams come true by doing something she’s never done before.
