If you’re looking to support more black-owned businesses as you head into the new year, Black Lives Matter — a chapter-based national organization working for the validity of Black life — just made it a whole lot easier.

Earlier this week, Black Lives Matter and NY-based ad agency J. Walter Thompson teamed up to launch a beta version of a map that highlights locally owned Black businesses.

As the map is still in beta, it’s sparse. But if you check it out here and drag the map to Brooklyn, you can see a few businesses have already been added to the map. Breukelen Coffee House in Crown Heights, Wonderful People Co. in Greenpoint, and Cheryl’s Global Soul in Prospect Heights are some of the businesses currently represented.

The coolest part of this map? The fact that users can add their own businesses to the map. A link on the website leads to a Google Form where owners can input their business’ information so they can be included.

“Black-owned business have long been a staple in the Black community providing jobs, economic security and somewhere for us to go and feel seen and safe. In these uncertain times, we need these places more than ever,” Black Lives Matter co-founder, Patrisse Cullors said in a statement.

We definitely agree, which is why we hope more business owners add their info to the site soon.
