Join the Campaign for Alternatives to Isolated Confinement for our monthly speak out against the torture of solitary confinement.  Jean Casella, co-director of Solitary Watch and co-editor of Hell Is a Very Small Place, will moderate a discussion among forensic psychiatrist and author of Solitary: The Inside Story of Supermax Isolation and How We Can Abolish It, Dr. Terry Kupers, journalist, founder and co-director of Solitary Watch, James Ridgeway, and survivor of solitary confinement, program director of the Incarcerated Nation Corp., and author of the essay “Invisible” in Hell is A Very Small Place, Five Mualimm-Ak.

In Coming to My Senses: The Making of a Counterculture Cook, Waters chronicles the circuitous road leading up to the opening of Chez Panisse Restaurant in 1971—a time when the prevailing food culture was embracing convenience and uniformity—offering her own account of how she turned her passion project into an iconic institution that redefined American cuisine for generations of chefs and food lovers.
