Hello Brooklyn: The Nets Sign Earl Clark To 10-Day Contract

Late last week, the Brooklyn Nets signed former Los Angeles Laker, Earl Clark to a 10-Day contract filling their 15th and final roster spot. It was a spot the Nets have been actively looking to fill and had reasons to wait until the end of the season to do so.

Ever since the departure of Andrei “AK-47” Kirilenko, the Nets have gone through the majority of their season with an open roster spot. Many fans speculated with confidence that Andray Blatche would return to the Nets after his season in China was finished. What gave the speculation more credibility was when OurBKSocial exclusively interviewed Nets General Manager, Billy King about Blatche. King stated that they were in talks and would make a decision soon. Blatche’s decision not to return to the Nets was made obvious when he signed a 3 year, $7.5 million deal to return to the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in China.

The Nets may have gotten the news sooner than the general public and started to look elsewhere before the trade deadline in February was over. They looked to sign Thomas Robinson until the Philadelphia 76ers snatched him away at the very last second. More than a month went by and there was still a vacant roster spot.

Who is Earl Clark? The forward was drafted in 2009 as the 14th overall pick to the Phoenix Suns. He stands tall at 6’10, weighing 234 pounds. He’s only 25 years old which aligns with the Nets new plans of getting younger. He’s a New Jersey native from Plainfield and his nickname is “Eazy”. Clark received praise from Joe Johnson, who happened to be the player of the game. Johnson stated that Clark was big off the bench in the 3rd quarter and helped them stay in the game. Coach Hollins stated that he left Clark in the game because he was doing the right things. Clark donned number 55 on his jersey and went to give the Nets 7 points including a 3 pointer, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 rebound in 11 minutes. Earl Clark feels that he belongs not only in the NBA but with the Nets and is ready to prove it.
