Yesterday, rapper Talib Kweli, announced via Twitter that he will be joining rock legends, Living Colour, at this years African Street Festival in Fort Greene.

The 44th International African Arts Festival (IAAF) kicks off next month, July 2-5 (10AM to 9PM, rain or shine) at Commodore Barry Park. Alongside headliners Talib Kweli and Living Colour, other featured artist include reggae artists New Kingston, jazz musician Norman Connors and singers Kaissa and Cita Rodriguez.

The annual festival, that begun in 1971 as a PTA’s block party fundraiser for an independent school in Bedford Stuyvesant with local entertainers, about 20 arts and crafts vendors, along with food prepared by the parents, celebrates family-friendly, fun-filled art, culture, and entertainment that celebrates the African Diaspora in Brooklyn. Now over an estimated 75,000 people from all over Brooklyn, New York City, the United States and around the world attend the IAAF.
