When winning looks like losing! Six beautiful children from The Tilden Hall Homeless Shelter were among 23 groups chosen to perform at Radio City Music Hall next month. Over 200 local acts came out and auditioned for the June 17th, Garden of Dreams Talent Show. What seemed to be life without an actual home, as many of the children have lived at Tilden Hall for over a year, was more than likely a set up by the universe for this very moment.
Bill Bartlett, the children’s Music Director is extremely excited for them. According to the NYDN, Bartlett took the children to the audition for it to be a learning experience. He never thought it would come this far. The talent show will spotlight more than 100 talented children whose struggles with illness or poverty hasn’t kept them from their dreams.
The children normally practice everyday after school for about 45 minutes. This is their first big gig and they are anticipating the day. They are expected to perform a song called “Ya Gotta Believe” , which was written by their director, Bartlett.
“I know I can act. I’m a star,” said 6 year old Nazeser Miller, one of the talented kids from the group.
