Imagine not having to figure out how much to tip your server at your favorite restaurant. Well I’m here to tell you, the future may look bright as one Brooklyn eatery has just implemented a no-gratuity policy.

Meadowsweet, a Mediterranean restaurant located at 149 Broadway in Williamsburg, has eliminated tips and will instead pay their servers $27 per hour. Kitchen workers will continue to earn around $13 an hour and overtime at first then eventually will make more. Customers will also pay a few dollars extra to support the employees pay raise, as menu prices have been marked up 20%.

“The goal is over the next couple of years, we can raise the income of every back-of-the-house employee,” Stephanie Lempert, general manager and owner of Meadowsweet, told Pix11. “We wanted to run the restaurant moving forward in a way that all our employees can benefit more financially.”
