What may have looked like the end for Lisa Price, founder of Carol’s Daughter, was only the beginning.

Today, news broke that Carol’s Daughter, the natural hair care product line that was started in Price’s personal Brooklyn kitchen, has been acquired by L’Oreal USA. Carol’s Daughter is a major staple amongst African-American naturalists but over the past year the hair care line ran into some major financial troubles.

Back in April, Carol’s Daughter, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. According to documents, the hair care line was between 1 million to 10 million dollars in debt. But today, Price took to social media with a video announcing to fans of the product, a buy out that has changed her life and possibly the life of natural hair care.

“I want to thank all of you for the support and the love and for being beside me, and I want you to hold my hand as we walk into this next chapter of the Carol’s Daughter life …. It brings me pride and joy to be able to join a family like L’Oreal because I know I’ll be with the right shepherd … a company that will help to take what I’ve built and solidify it in its place in history and beauty, and I don’t have to wonder, if 20 years from now—30 years from now—will there still be a Carol’s Daughter brand,” Price stated.

After the company closed all but two of it’s stores, things are looking all the way up for the brand.

Proud to see another Brooklyn-based business rise above!
