We all look forward to a long healthy and fulfilling life. Well one Brooklyn resident has accomplished that and more. On Easter Sunday, Ben Rosen celebrated his 100th Birthday at River Cafe. Such an amazing milestone. Rosen was born in Philadelphia, but moved to Brooklyn before he was three years old. He has practically lived much lived in Brooklyn much longer than any other resident. I would love to hear what he has to say on how much Brooklyn has changed!

Rosen who has never been married (probably was he is still alive), currently lives in the Midwood section of Brooklyn. After serving briefly in the Army Air Corps in World War II worked at Eli Lilly and Company, a global pharmaceutical company, for over 25 years as a sales manager. He is also four time Catesville handball champion.

His long-time friend, Peter Patterson, whom he met at Grace Church during a Thanksgiving charity event about 20 years ago, treated him to dinner at the iconic River Café on the waterfront in DUMBO. It was a promise he made to Rosen on his 90th birthday. A man of his word! And Rosen made sure to stick it out!

Also for his 100th birthday he was presented with a Proclamation from Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and a letter from President Obama. Patterson also bought his friend and framed a copy of The New York Times from the day Rosen was born.
