The woman who was paid to take care of a 91-year-old man, Waldiman Thompson, and his 100-year-old wife, Ethlin in Bed-Stuy, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and two counts of assault and burglary after planning a botched home invasion.

Suzette Troutman, 45, was hired two years ago to help Waldiman and his wife with shopping and other housekeeping chores.

According to the NY Daily News, Troutman drove a 3-year-old child, her nephew Dwayne Blackwood, 27, and another man to the Thompsons’ home on Wednesday, Oct. 11, where the thieves tied up the couple, stole about $5,000 and left Waldiman to die of a heart attack.

Troutman, allegedly the mastermind behind the incident, was arrested on Monday after her nephew was taken into custody and hit with the same charges over the weekend.

“She took care of the Thompsons. She used her trust to betray them and commit this crime,” Assistant District Attorney Bernarda Villalona told the news. “The defendant is the key to planning this home invasion. She had the knowledge and the trust. She caused his death.”

Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said that two more suspects were being searched for in connection to the heist.

“We believe there are at least two others involved, one person who was known to the victim,” Boyce said. “They are identified. I have detectives right now seeking them out. Not a family member, someone known to the family.”

Troutman’s lawyer, Gregory Watts denies the aide’s involvement in the crime.

“She didn’t plan it. She didn’t direct it. She took care of the couple who were family to her,” Watts said. “She is innocent. Innocent, innocent. None of it’s true. The NYPD makes stuff up.”
