On Day 13 of Black History Month we recognize Black Women’s Blueprint, Inc.
The vision of Black Women’s Blueprint (BWB) is a world where women and girls of African descent are fully empowered and where gender, race, and other disparities are erased. Farah Tanis, Co-Founder and Executive Director, says “I believe one can live out all of their dreams if they truly put their minds to it….”
In 2008, as a group of sisters of color listened to political candidates debate, they realized that none were addressing their most basic and specific needs. Someone needed to advocate for them. Somebody needed to voice their concerns with: an end to gender violence and sexual abuse, the large number of black women and families living in poverty, the disparate treatment of black females by the police, and social and economic inequities. Who had black women’s back? Where was her voice?
Our department is well equipped with high-end gadgets and instruments, advanced anesthesia machines, surgical ICU and most important dedicated bariatric surgical team, including a full-time surgeon, an anesthetist and intensivists experienced staff, medical spewhy not try here order generic cialists and full-time dietician.
BWB, a Brooklyn-based organization, grew out of the need for black women to advocate for themselves. The organization created a much needed “blueprint for change” in the lives of women of African descent. Through several initiatives, activities, and workshops, BWB speaks directly to the needs of black women and girls. BWB engages in progressive research, historical documentation and supports movement building. Click here to donate, volunteer, and see what they’re up to.
