CARROLL GARDENS — Marco Polo Ristorante, a popular Italian restaurant in Carroll Gardens — alleged to have Mob ties — was mysteriously shot up on Sunday morning.
An employee arrived to open the restaurant just before 8 a.m., and found the front window and doors ridden with bullet holes.
In 2008, the restaurant’s founder Joseph Chirico plead guilty to money laundering for the Gambino crime family, but Chirico’s son and co-owner Marco Chirico claims to the Post that Marco Polo was caught in crossfire between a gang fight. Police however, disagree.
“It’s obviously some kind of message,” a law enforcement source told the NY Post.
“No other establishments were fired upon,” Sergeant Jones told Brooklyn Paper.

“The thing about Marco Polo and some of the other restaurants is, we know their history,” a neighbor told the Post.
The investigation is currently ongoing, according to authorities, who said they have yet to make any arrests.
