Canarsie, an underdeveloped neighborhood in Brooklyn, looks to be the next neighborhood headed for redevelopment.
Loketch Group developer Moishe Loketch, along with his father Pinny, are known for building affordable rentals and Section 8 housing in other states. Since the duo moved to New York in the 90s, they’ve been building in Canarsie and felt a set of affordable condos would be a nice fit for the “up and coming” neighborhood.
Loft 87, the Loketch Group’s tenth project in Canarsie, is a luxury 27 two-bedroom residences, relatively affordable compared to newer developments in other Brooklyn neighborhoods.”Why go to Bushwick and pay outta your nose when you can basically own—your mortgage on a unit like this will probably run you around fifteen to eighteen hundred dollars, depending on which one,” Loketch told The Awl of his latest development, “I’m bringing everything you would see in Bushwick for half the price.”
