On the wake of Actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman’s fatal drug overdose, the Daily News reports that Brooklyn had the highest number of fatal drug overdoses across the five boroughs from 2010 to 2012 according to the city Health Department. The numbers, scary! in 2010 there were 541 drug deaths , 630 in 2011 and 730 in 2012. Shocking to me, heroin, has been the drug of choice. The deadly drug has become more popular partly due to tougher laws limiting prescription opioids (painkillers). Since pain killers have become more expensive and hard to come by, people are transitioning to heroin.
