Brooklyn Brewery is closing up shop at its longtime Williamsburg headquarters and expanding to Brooklyn Navy Yard. The company announced yesterday that they will move into the new 50,000 barrel brewery by 2018.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Brooklyn Brewery, who already has a barrel-aging facility at the Navy Yard’s Building 269, will lease 75,000 sq. ft. of space inside the newly renovated building 77 — a 1 million sq. ft. industrial warehouse that the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. is spending $185 million to redevelop to allow for public access.
The brewery’s co-founder Steve Hindy told WSJ that the company’s current expansion efforts in New York constituted “the largest industrial project in 30 years in the city.”
According to Brooklyn Daily Eagle, the de Blasio administration has invested more than $100 million to transform Building 77 into a 1 million-square-foot manufacturing center. Brooklyn Brewery will employ 124 people at the Yard, with the long-term goal of creating an additional 100 jobs.

“The Navy Yard gives us a future in Brooklyn. It’s incredible to see what’s grown around us here in Brooklyn, and our long-term lease at the Yard will ensure a presence in Brooklyn alongside many similar Brooklyn entrepreneurial success stories,” said Brooklyn Brewery founder Steve Hindy.
The new space will house Brooklyn Brewery’s HQ, corporate offices and all new rooftop beer garden.
