Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams, puts on his boxing gloves for a good cause. Adams joined Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi and chef Dimitri Verteouris at Gleason Gym in Dumbo to fight childhood obesity. While entering the gym the Mike Tyson happened to make famous, the 52 year old Adams announced, “The champ is here!”

According the the NY Daily News, boxing champion Malignaggi stated,

“Sometimes in life you realize fighting is not just combat, it’s also fighting and overcoming obstacles in life.”

The program called “Knockout Obesity”, was started for children who were struggling with weight-loss. Brooklyn has one of the highest numbers in all of New York with child-hood obesity.

According to NY.Gov (reports from 2007)

• More than 1 in 4 children in Head Start programs and public elementary schools is obese, and more than 4 in 10 are overweight or obese.

• About 1 in 6 public high school students is obese, and more than 1 in 3 is overweight or obese.

Either for the individual generic levitra online robertrobb.com or for couple, these combinations of treatment can actually help to attain an erection and reach orgasm or ejaculation.
• The prevalence of obesity among preschool children in Head Start and public elementary school children is similar in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bushwick and New York City overall.

• The prevalence of obesity among public high school students and adults, however, is higher in these Brooklyn neighborhoods than in the city as a whole.

Dimitri Verteouris, a resident of Bay Ridge, founded the program more than a year ago in Manhattan and thus has expanded to Brooklyn. Verteouris, who is also owner of three Nature’s Grill restaurants in Brooklyn, lost 82 pounds in three months on the Food Network’s “Fat Chef”. He eventually dropped 110 pounds through a combination of boxing and strict healthy eating.

BP Eric Adams highly endorses the program as he keeps dumbbells and an ab wheel in his office. Staying active is the only way to keep obesity at bay.
