Brooklyn Actor Ready To Light Up The Stage For The 1st Time At Home

Brooklyn actor, Morris Beyda, is back like he never left and this time he’ll be creating a major buzz. The Midwood native is scheduled to hit the stage as “Buzz Lightyear” of Toy Story at Brooklyn’s Kings Theater on March 25 along with a full cast for Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie’s Doorway to Magic.

Beyda expressed his excitement to be able to finally perform in his hometown post his completion at Brooklyn College. “I can’t even tell you how excited I’ve been, it’s been a full circle for me…I’ve been trying to get to New York for a while to perform back home. This will be my first time bringing a show to Brooklyn since I grew up here,” the actor told Brooklyn Paper.

So how did Morris Beyda gain an interest in theatrics? Well Brooklynites, Beyda comes from a strong religious background of Hebrew and Jewish schooling. However, once he moved out of Brooklyn he attended Monmouth University in New Jersey where be began taking classes in theater and eventually became a self taught dancer. Performances came into play post volunteering at the Jewish Community Center helping the children with their performance groups.

In 2009, Beyda was granted the opportunity to spend a semester in Orlando with the Disney College Program where he auditioned for the High School Musical tour and magically scored the job. “That was my first-ever dancing job…I just went on a whim just believing in how much I wanted to do this, and my work ethic, and ended up booking it. And to this day I’m super proud, because it started everything for me.”

Since the audition for High School Musical, the Brooklyn native has toured the world performing in major Disney plays.

With the genuine support of family and friends Beyda is overjoyed and ready to perform for and in his home town of Brooklyn.
