Now this is an interesting story to say the least. Jake Appleman, author of “Brooklyn Bounce“, managed to write an entire book about the Nets first season in Brooklyn. Jake had written for various publications already for the Nets when they were housed in New Jersey, so when they moved to Brooklyn, he decided to put together documentation of their first season in this growing borough.
Jake Appleman launches his highly expected book, “Brooklyn Bounce: The Highs and Lows of Nets Basketball’s Historic First Season in the Borough” today, 7pm, at BookCourt on 163 Court St. between Pacific and Dean streets in Cobble Hill. Phone number – (718) 875–3677.
According to The Brooklyn Paper’s Matt Spolar, when Jake was asked why did he write this book, Jake stated,
I have a longstanding history with the Nets, dating back to my childhood watching them play in East Rutherford and then covering them in Newark. I was on the scene when the transition was happening, so when the idea of doing this project came about I felt more comfortable taking it on because I had been there for the lead-in.
