Margaret Douglas has gone from wrapping ground beef to now eating caviar. The Flatbush butcher won $10,000 a week for life on a scratch off ticket. Margaret is a single mother of two who currently works at the Pathmark on Albany Avenue and purchases these scratch-off tickets often. Like any normal day she went on her coffee break to work on her scratch-offs. Margaret gasped for air when she realized that she finally had the ultimate winning ticket.
Margaret chose to take the single lump sum payment of $4,854,424 after taxes. Her life just changed in a matter of minutes! When she was asked about her plans with her new millions, she said she will use some of it to buy a new home and plans on “cutting back on my hours and relaxing a little more.” Good for her!
She wasn’t the only Brooklynite to win big. Otto Royal, a 71 year old retiree of Bed-Stuy, won $1,000 a week for life. Royal also decided to take a one-time payment of $483,847 after taxes instead of the guaranteed $1,000,000 over the span of 20 years.
He purchased the winning card at the Mattie & Juanita’s bodega on Tompkins Ave. in Brooklyn. As of now his only plans are to take his three grandchildren to Disneyland. Sweet story!
How many of you are on your way to buying some scratch-off cards? I know I am! Think Win!
