Affordable Brooklyn Apartment Lotteries Now Accepting Applications

“Congratulations! You just won the lottery! Apartment lottery that is.” I’m not even sure that’s how it goes but it’s a beautiful thought.

Apartment lotteries didn’t cross my path until 2012, when a family member of mine told me she applied for an apartment lottery through ImPACCt Brooklyn. (PACC signifies Pratt Area Community Council.) When I’m given new knowledge I always fact check with my own research and apartment lotteries don’t sound too shabby.

The process is as follows:

  • Check available housing listings, as well as, the additional housing links. When browsing through available options, there will be an advertisement next to each listing that’ll provide information for consideration: apartment size, household size, and the ranges for the monthly rent and total annual income.

  • Apply for an apartment!

It’s just that simple! Of course, there’s a wait time and an interview but the process is, more or less, easy-does-it. Abide by application deadlines and you’ll be counted in the number(s) for consideration.

If you’re in the housing dating pool, as I like to call it, then you’re pretty familiar with the base rate for apartment rentals on the rise. With apartment lotteries making their way in the housing world, there’s never any pain in exploring your options.

Just like the NY Lotto, you’ll never know!
