Yoga has become apart of many Brooklynite’s everyday routine. It’s calming experience forces you to use your core and go with the flow.  Yoga teaches you three main things: to focus, to be present, and to breathe. Rarely do we notice how often we are not doing those simple, yet very important task.
If you’ve ever practiced the healing exercise or know someone who has, you are familiar with the term Namaste, an ancient Sanskrit greeting commonly used during yoga or meditation meaning “The Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you”. I normally wouldn’t suggest that something is for everyone, but since experiencing the power and benefits that yoga has, I’d say you have to try it at least once.
Yoga has become more and more popular now than it ever has been as more and more exercise studios have popped up around the borough.
Here are 5 cool and affordable places you can practice yoga in Brooklyn:
RoofTop Yoga BK
A yoga class offered on a rooftop in Bed-Stuy hosted by BeadsByAree founder Areeayl, I actually attended my first one last week. It’s actually pretty cool, taking yoga to the next level by being outside and taking in the ambience of the outdoors while focusing on your breathing.
Yoga To The People – 211 N. 11th Street, 2nd FLR
With a suggested donation, you basically pay like $10 to attend this class. You should probably get there 20-30 minutes before the class starts as they fill up pretty quickly. They offer mat rentals as well.
Brooklyn Yoga Collective –Â 795 Franklin Avenue

Brooklyn Yoga School –Â 82 Sixth Avenue
Their mantra is “Happiness is who we are. Yoga simply helps us to find it.” This studio has a minimum suggested donation of $10. Every Friday night, they participate in Kirtan, call-and-response chanting.
Bikram Yoga Park Slope –Â 507 Flatbush Avenue &Â 555 5th Avenue
This yoga studio focuses on bikram yoga, a testimony from a regular at the studio stated “Without question I’m healthier, stronger, calmer, more alert, and generally doing better in all aspects of my life.”
