October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the West Indian American Day Carnival Association, known for putting together the biggest carnival in Brooklyn every year, is coming together to put an end to Breast Cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Black women. Therefore the WIADCA is contributing to the pathway to finding a cure by participating and setting a goal of $3000 in the Making Strides In Brooklyn Walk on October 19th.
This walk not only represents the fight against breast cancer but it also represents the acknowledgement for those women who survived breast cancer and those who have succumbed to the disease. In honor of all women fighting the disease, don’t forget to wear the color pink on the day of the walk. The color pink symbolizes awareness and it also symbolizes a promise that there will be an end to breast cancer.
WIADCAÂ is looking for donations and volunteers to join them on this eventful day to help make a difference and to bring awareness to this deadly disease. For those who are interested in joining WIADCA in the walk or those who wants to make a donation, click HERE.
