Brooklyn’s 1st Annual Chile Roasting Festival

Freshly harvested in southern New Mexico, the hatch chile is a staple of Southwestern cuisine, unique for its subtly sweet, spicy, crisp, and smoky taste. On October 13th we celebrate the chile in all of its glory, roasting over 200 lbs. in our backyard for a day of food, drink, music and HEAT.

BRIC JazzFest kicks off with a free outdoor concert featuring beloved Brooklyn Afrobeat collective Antibalas. Antibalas has long been revered for re-popularizing Femi Kuti’s classic Afrobeat sound while adding their distinct Brooklyn grit and spirit of improvisation to the mix. Punk rock, free jazz, and hip-hop seep into the group’s expansive works and their newest album, When The Gods Are At Peace (Daptone Records), which examines oppression in 1800s America and the parallels drawn between then and now.
