Nets Ship Cory Jefferson & Markel Brown To NBA D-League

2014 is over and the Nets are shaking things up on their roster. As of this morning, the Brooklyn Nets have announced via press release that both Markel Brown and Cory Jefferson, both bought by Brooklyn in the 2014 NBA Draft, have been sent to the NBA D-League (NBADL), specifically, the Maine Red Claws.

Brooklyn Nets General Manager, Billy King, used the flexible assignment rule to send both players to the NBADL. There are only 17 NBADL teams assigned to NBA teams which means that 13 teams have no direct NBADL affiliate. To even out the proverbial playing field teams from around the league have sent players to the NBADL on the flexible assignment rule.

Both Jefferson and Markel have played for Brooklyn and Jefferson has even become a starter for one game against the Philadelphia 76ers. In the same game he was a perfect 5-5 in field goal attempts. In another games he’s showed that he can shoot and hit the 3-point shot, block shots, and can dunk the ball viciously. There is work to be done but there is indeed a future for the 60th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Markel Brown started the year with a hand injury then another injury regarding a hip pointer occurred later in the season. Injuries have prevented Markel from doing much on the Brooklyn Nets squad but the 44th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft will improve and look to become a point guard to be taken seriously in the NBA.
