Take pictures now, because Downtown Brooklyn, in a few years, will look a bit different.

Brooklyn Strand, Downtown Brooklyn’s planned 21-acre greenway, is reportedly moving forward as new renderings have been made available. The new plan will include a significant amount of green space, the reopening of the Brooklyn War Memorial to the public, a new platform and pedestrian path surrounding the entrance and exit ramps to the Brooklyn Bridge, a permanent market at Anchorage Plaza near where the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and bridge overlap, improved connections for NYCHA residents to Brooklyn Bridge Park and installing public art along the Strand, according to Curbed.

According to Brooklyn Strand Urban Design Action Plan, the space’s goal is to reconnect neighborhoods, advance public space equity, explore economic opportunities, improve park access and craft a gateway to Brooklyn. Many of the amenities included in this goal is to offer more public art, movie nights and cultural events along with adding a number of wifi stations, more local businesses and restaurants as well as building more affordable housing.
