Hopefully Downtown Brooklyn’s new dine-in movie theater, Alamo Drafthouse, was worth the wait.
The Texas based chain set to open their first theater in New York at the new City Point development has been met with major delays, but today they announced they’ll officially open on Friday, October 28.
“We’ve been ready for a while,” Tim League, the founder and chief executive officer of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, told the NY Times, who first reported the official opening date. “But we can’t get people from the street to our space without the fire department signoff.”
Now that everything has been squared away, the two floor, seven-screen theater will include a full dine-in service with a kitchen run by chef Fernando Marulanda, formerly of Tavern on the Green, reserved seating and a stand-alone bar, called the House of Wax.
According to the NY Times, “programming will include new releases and repertory showings,” kicking off with “In the Mood for Gore,” 35-millimeter prints of Asian horror films from the 1980s and ’90s and a special “Monster Squad” Halloween party will be held on Halloween.
