What a couple of days it has been for the NBA organization. The racist comments made by LA Clippers General Manager, Donald Sterling has become a worldwide controversy. In a recorded conversation that he had with his girlfriend stating that he didn’t want black people at his games, even going on to say that blacks are filthy, has stirred quite an understandable public outrage.

Yesterday the NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, held a press conference to announce his decision on the actions that would be taken against Sterling. Proving that it was indeed Sterling’s voice on the tape, Adam Silver fined Sterling the maximum fine of 2.5 million dollars and banned him from the entire NBA. Silver also stated he will do everything in his power to have him sell the team.

What seemed to be the topic of discussion since the date the tape was released to TMZ, has now been turn to Adam Silver’s first year as NBA Commissioner’s first victory.

The Brooklyn Nets organization responded to Silver’s decision in a statement,

“Today’s announcement by Commissioner Silver sends a strong message that racism and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated in the NBA family. The Nets organization welcomes and fully supports the decision and remains committed to tolerance and respect for all. We can all be proud that the reaction throughout the NBA – from players, management, ownership and fans – has been unequivocal and united in condemning the scourge of racism.”

Brooklyn Nets players took to twitter to show their appreciation

After Adam Silver’s press conference the LA Clippers site’s header was changed to black with the words “We Are One.” The Brooklyn Nets team went on to show there support through social media by posting a similar image

Brooklyn continues to spread love! Now we wait for Sterling to sell. Would be nice to see Magic Johnson buy the team especially since Donald Sterling mentioned him the most on the tape. From Sterling not wanting Johnson to come to the game, to Johnson owning the team, priceless! Time will tell!
