Don’t get too excited. Brooklyn will not be receiving a NFL team, at least not at the moment.

The Brooklyn Bolts, a FXFL developmental league team, is headed to play in Coney Island’s MCU Park, beginning this fall. New York is one of only four cities including Boston, Miami and Omaha, to host FXFL teams.

MCU Park, where the Bolts home games will take place, is also the playing field for the Brooklyn Cyclones and Mets minor league affiliate.

“Placing a team in Brooklyn was a priority of ours when the league was first launched. The market provides a unique mix of avid sports fans, corporate, and tourists that can enjoy a family-oriented setting for a game this fall,” said Brian Woods, FXFL Commissioner.

While the FXFL and the NFL have no direct connection, Woods hopes that they can soon be connected. The NFL could use a development league for all the players that don’t make it.
