Probably the most talked about and criminal lovers in America history, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, have been reimagined in a new musical.
The criminal couple, labeled “Bonnie And Clyde”, traveled the central United States with their gang during the Great Depression, robbing and killing people before their death on May 23, 1934 by the hands of Texas officers.
“Bonnie and Clyde were two young Texans whose early 1930s crime spree forever imprinted them upon the national consciousness. Their names have become synonymous with an image of Depression-era chic, a world where women chomped cigars and brandished automatic rifles, men robbed banks and drove away in squealing automobiles, and life was lived fast because it would be so short,” the Connecticut-based theater company, Kweskin Theatre, told CTpost.
William Bednar of Brooklyn, plays the starring role as “Clyde” alongside popular theater actress Arielle Boutin of Norwalk. The show is said to be a thrilling and sexy musical with a non-traditional score, combining blues, gospel and rockabilly music.

“The musical, which bears as little resemblance to the 1967 film as the film did to reality, picks up our couple as children when Bonnie Parker dreams of being a movie star like Clara Bow, and Clyde Barrow dreams of being Billy the Kid or Al Capone — both of whom he equates with being latter day Robin Hoods,” reports CTpost.
Though the play is only showing in Connecticut, a subsequent Broadway opening is in the works. (We hope it to be very soon!)
