Hima B

Hima B was born in India but raised in America she was often faced with culture clashes. Hima then moved to San Francisco in 1990 where she came out as bisexual and supported herself as a stripper. In fact, it was that experience that inspired her first documentary “Straight for the Money” which is about queer sex workers. This film was included in the 1995 Whitney Biennial and was a part of many international film festivals. Currently, she lives/works in the NYC area as a independent filmmaker who focuses on social-issue based and narrative documentaries. Check out a trailer of one of her documentaries here.

Hira Nabi

Hira Nabi received her BA in video and post colonial history from Hamshire college. She is currently a graduate student at the New School where she is studying cinematic culture in relation to the spectatorship in urban Pakistan. Her style of filming includes using memory, nostalgia, and daily rituals as an aesthetic; with the camera she  is experimenting with splicing fiction and documentary.

Starsha Gill

Starsha Gill is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker/producer who has been credited with producing a Dominican narrative called Bestia De Cardo (Beast of Cardo) and many more. She has also received numerous awards that range from outstanding achievements in editing, recognition at the Salt Lake City Film Festival  and the Atlanta Underground Film Festival.

Kai Beverly-Whittemore

Kai was very fond of the camera at a young age Kai posed for fine arts photographers Jock Sturges and Mona Kuhn. Her feature length documentary “Body of Work” which earned a spot as the finalist in the SFF Documentary Film Grant (2011) and won an Experimental Television Center Finishing Fund Grant in (2010.) Whittmore is credited with numerous amounts of awards and accolades that goes back to 2009.

Hazuki Alkawa

Hazuki Alkawa is well versed in the film industry, she has experience dealing with production, editing, directing, and screenwriting. Born and raised in Japan, Alkawa has worked with various television networks such as NHK, Fuji Television, and Team Okuyama Kazuuyoshi. She incorporates her photography and science journalism background to explore topics in her narrative films such as nature, faith, and humanity. Daniel Traub

Daniel Traub is a filmmaker and a photographer. His recent work includes a feature length documentary about an artist named Lily Yeh, and a short film about a Chinese artist named Xu Bing that played a part in his Phoenix project. He is known to have his work aired on networks such as PBS, German Television, ZDF, and Arte. His photography is also known to be seen in Europe, United States, and Asia.

Stravit Allweis

Stravit Allweis works with still and moving images in a way to create a narrative. She graduated withe her MFA from Columbia University; after graduation she developed a sequential art and comics to her story series type of filming. It was then she dove head  first and started to self-teach her self on how to direct, it through that, that ISNESS was unveiled. Then, along the same artistic style she created Hearts of JEOP. Bryan Chang graduated from Brown University with a BA in English and a BS in Cognitive Neuroscience. After graduating he is now a filmmaker, editor, and member-owner of Meerkat Media, a film collective that specializes independent documentaries that has been aired on the major television networks.
