On Saturday, June 21st, thousands of revelers will flock to Coney Island beach, mostly dressed in mermaid themed attire, to celebrate the annual Mermaid Parade. Parade organizers state that the event combines “ancient mythology” and “honky-tonk seaside rituals” to express self-esteem and art.
