In what seems to be such a beautiful quiet neighborhood in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, who would have thought that in the 70s it was a totally different story! About 70 people, including men, women and children lived in 222 Brooklyn Avenue or otherwise know as the “House Of Horrors”. Devernon LeGrand otherwise known as “Bishop” because of how he ran his house as a fake church. He used to lure in young teenage women who would see his jewels, expensive cadillac and huge house, marry them and then have them work for him. Bishop would have his women dress up as nuns and go to different areas such as various Brooklyn train stations and Little Italy in Manhattan and beg for money. Apparently these women would make around $250,000 a year (remember this is the 70s) for him. That was a crap load of money.

But much worse was what was reported that Bishop would have on going in that house. It was reported that children were kept in cages and people were either murdered or completely vanished from that house with no trace. Till this day there are searches going on for some of the “Nuns” he had working for him.
