If you’re looking for things to do in Brooklyn that won’t break the bank, Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) is your best bet.

Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy and BBP have announced a full lineup of events and activities for the 2018 spring and summer season. Locals will be able to enjoy a variety of free and low cost cultural, recreational, fitness and educational events from May until August.

On Saturday, May 5, BBP kicked off the season of events with the annual Lift Off: A Waterfront Kite Festival. Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn was open to the public to fly their own kites or purchase new kites at the event. Live DJs, stilt walkers, jugglers, and a large-scale bubble show also made for a fun afternoon.

Locals will be able to enjoy their yearly favorites including: Movies With A View, an 8-week film series with sweeping views of the city skyline; Books Beneath the Bridge, the six-week literary program curated by independent bookstores based in Brooklyn; All The Park’s a Stage, where New York Classical Theatre will stage. BBP has also created new events including an inaugural concert series, Brooklyn Americana Music Festival: Unplugged, a live events that will showcase intimate acoustic sets performed by musical duos throughout June.

In addition to programming and events, BBP will be opening five new acres of parkland at Pier 3. The new park space will include a central lawn, areas for programming, and a labyrinth garden. Pier 3 will also feature a cedar grove with versatile seating for picnics, play, and relaxation.
