Another original Brooklyn store says goodbye.

Nordic Delicacies, a Scandinavian convenience shop, was founded in Bayridge by mother and daughter duo Helen Bakke and Arlene Rutuelo 27 years ago in 1987. Bayridge was the perfect location for this small gift shop due to the huge Scandinavian population the neighborhood had at the time.

The 1700 square foot shop is located on 6909 3rd avenue and is known for its delicious Scandinavian foods like Husmor fishballs, Salted Lamb, Fish Mousse and homemade pork cold cuts as well as their apparel showing their Scandinavian pride. The mom/daughter shop had a successful run with thriving retail, mail orders and a catering business. Nordic Delicacies was the only thing left in the community to tie the Scandinavian community to its culture, and with the economy and neighborhood changing, the small business couldn’t keep up the big demands.

Every dark cloud comes with a silver lining, and also if you look hard enough you’ll find one on this habitual situation too. cheap cialis
