Today, New York Mayor Bill De Blasio submitted a formal convention bid that proposes, Barclays Center, as the main venue for the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Today was the deadline to submit proposals as 15 cities were asked by the Democratic Committee to try to host the event.

If Hiliary Clinton, wife of former President Bill Clinton, decides to run for the 45th President seat, this could be one major and historical event for Brooklyn. The former U.S. Senator represents New York and would most likely follow in her husband’s footsteps as a fellow Democrat.

Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams, released a formal statement which states

“Brooklyn is the center of the Democratic universe. Our borough and our city embody the spirit and the energy that large-scale events need to succeed, along with our commitment to safety, existing transportation infrastructure and robust hospitality industry. The time has come to bring the king (or queen) making convention to the County of Kings….”
