Lauryn Hill Is Bringing A Haitian Art Exhibition To Flatbush

Lauryn Hill is headed to Brooklyn this weekend for a performance at Kings Theatre and is bringing something extra special with her to the Flatbush venue.

The only non-Haitian of her former group, The Fugees, but a patron of Caribbean culture and art, Hill has co-curated a showcase of contemporary artists from the African diaspora, with a special focus on art and artists from Haiti. The show called Diaspora Calling, in partnership with MoCADA, Haiti Cultural Exchange, the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts — also located in Brooklyn, will transform the Kings Theatre lobby into an art gallery featuring works from over a dozen Haitian artist including: Nadine Renazile, Francks Deceus, Jean-Baptiste Bottex, G.E Ducasse, Mireille Delice and André Pierre.
The gallery is open to the public on Thursday April 14th and Friday April 15th, from 1 to 4pm. Hill, along with reggae artists Jah9 and Stephen Marley, will perform at the venue on Friday at 9pm.
