What started as a free magazine back in 1994 has evolved into a multi-million dollar company. Brooklyn-based media brand, VICE, is expected to make close to $1 billion in revenue in this year, according to reports.
The New York Times reports VICE media will make approximately $915 million this year. This, according to secret internal company documents viewed by the Times. Shane Smith, Vice’s chief executive,  and staff secured  about $500 million in financing and signed deals with established media companies like HBO (who inked a 4-year deal with VICE), just in the past year. Continuing on, Vice has already generated $545 million in the first quarter of 2015.

Vice is also on the verge of getting its own cable channel. If everything goes smoothly, A&E Networks, the television group owned by Hearst and Disney, will turn over its History Channel spinoff, H2, to Vice. According to Hollywood Reporter, Smith outlined plans for 20 new shows.
