Jimmy Kimmel has had one amazing guest line-up thus far on his return back to his hometown of Brooklyn. Hours before Jay Z was to appear on stage for his mega TIDAL X: 10/20 benefit concert which raised a whopping $1.5 million dollars for the fight against social injustice, the Brooklyn rapper took the stage alongside the night-time show host.
In Mr. Carter’s short but sweet interview with Jimmy Kimmel, he talks about Beyonce’s weird pizza toppings, going to high-school in Brooklyn with Busta Rhymes and Biggie and “old Brooklyn.”
“Are there things you miss about the old Brooklyn?” Kimmel asks the rapper. “The place where the stadium is, because the train ended there, there were heroin users…” Jay Z answers. “So you miss them?” Kimmel asks back with a laugh. “No, (laughs) good for business, bad for everything else,” Jay Z adds on.
Jay Z knows a lot has changed in Brooklyn, though the star hasn’t lived here since his dealer days at 560 State Street. He does acknowledge bringing Barclays Center to the land on where he previously sold drugs has had a lot to do with the gentrification and social change of the borough.
