Congratulations are in order for Brooklyn born, Isaiah Whitehead. The Seton Hall College freshman was named BIG EAST Preseason Rookie of the Year!
The 2014 McDonald’s All-American, Whitehead becomes the first Seton Hall Pirate to receive the preseason Rookie of the Year honor since Eddie Griffin back prior to the 2000-01 season. According to the Pirate’s website, Whitehead becomes only the fourth Seton Hall player to win the preseason award joining the aforementioned Griffin, Luther Wright (1991-92) and Terry Dehere (1989-90). Named Mr. New York Basketball by the state’s Basketball Coaches Association in 2014, Whitehead is a five-star recruit rated #10 overall in the Class of 2014 by 247sports.com and the #2 shooting guard according to ESPN.com. A four year All-City honoree at Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, he’s the highest rated New York City recruit since 2009.
